Neptune drum pump technology

The drum pumps Neptune are a modular system of two main modules – a pump tube, which is immersed in the drum or container, and a motor, which is mounted on top. The tube material is chosen according to the liquid, and the motor according to the place of use. Every tube can be combined with a suitable motor, and for smaller quantities we also offer hand pumps.

How a drum pump works

  1. Motor. The motor is attached to the upper end of the tube and turns the shaft that runs along its entire length.
  2. Impeller. At the lower end of the tube, immersed in the liquid, the shaft turns the impeller (rotor).
  3. Lifting. The impeller draws the liquid from the bottom of the drum and pushes it up the tube.
  4. Outlet. The liquid leaves through the outlet at the upper end – to a hose, nozzle or flow meter.

The pumps are designed for continuous operation and are easy to move from one container to another.

Safety

  • With flammable liquids or in a hazardous area, use the N-ARIA 1 pneumatic motor or the N-460 explosion-proof motor with a suitable tube.
  • With flammable liquids, the pump, the drum and the receiving container must be earthed – for this we offer an earthing kit with four cables.
  • Check the chemical compatibility of the tube, seals and hose with the liquid.
  • Do not exceed the maximum temperature of the tube material.

How to choose a drum pump

  1. Liquid. Choose the tube material according to the chemical composition, viscosity and temperature.
  2. Container. Choose the tube length according to the height of the drum or container.
  3. Place of use. Electric motor for normal conditions, pneumatic or explosion-proof for hazardous areas.
  4. Quantity. For small quantities without a power supply – a hand pump.
  5. Accessories. Drum adapters, filters, nozzles and electronic flow meter – see the accessories.
